All the fun stuff involves grinders and welding! As much as I love the dovetail look Im trying to avoid cutting the frame down and I want to keep the hitch, hooks and backup sensors.your best bet would be to dovetail your bedsides. pulle the bumper face off of the gen 1 bumper, fab up a plat that you can attach the gen2 face to the gen 1 mounting brackets. that or cut off the bolt plates of he bumper and weld wherever it touches the frame on the gen1. its not a bad idea but def gonna have to break out the grinder and welder...
I need to get the overall length of the Gen 2 rear and see where the bed bends would end up on the Gen 1. This may be way too involved of a project hahaGut feeling is the rear bumper would work fine if you really wanted it, assuming you can make some custom brackets to mount it up. Both have flat tops and should be about the same width. You'd have to deal with the weird hitch setup it has though- the hitch is essentially part of the bumper and it's support. You'd also have 2 cutouts for exhaust tips, and it's still a weak OEM bumper. Not really worth all that pain
Yeah I really like Gen 2 front how it steps up on the sides. No way the front works without looking weird. Gen 1 is flat all along the top. Gen 2 steps down in the middle to accommodate the required gaping maw all vehicles have now.
Not a fan of that cut up front bumper, but you gotta love the creativity involved. Still, it's your's, so make it so.All the fun stuff involves grinders and welding! As much as I love the dovetail look Im trying to avoid cutting the frame down and I want to keep the hitch, hooks and backup sensors.
I talked to Foutz and they said the Gen 2 rear is actually a 3 piece bumper. The middle section is welded to the hitch and the ends bolt onto that.

If I get bored/drunk enough I may be attempting something similar to what Rick Kiser did with his front bumper
He is also planning on cutting the rear bumper
