I finally got tired of the chime altogether. I removed the dash bezel and gauge cluster. There are 6 bolts holding them in. I pulled the gauge cluster out and rotated it to access the back, leaving it plugged in the whole time. This is where it gets technical, I used a Phillips head jewelers screwdriver and I carefully stabbed the shit out of the speaker. It actually died on the first stab, but I gave it a few more to make sure (always double tap!).
I put it all back together and I love it. No more chime period, just the way I like it.
This mod takes all of 15 minutes.

My speaker died today. Took me all of 15 minutes to kill it. Brought the gauge cluster inside and cut the speaker, reinstalled and no chime! Thanks!

Realized today that it doesn't "click click" when the blinker is on. So far thats the only side effect of murdering your door chime speaker.
