Not in answer to ekalb, but I ended up with a fox tailgate pad, and a heavy cable through the frames to the bed cleats. Then again I don’t stray far from home.

I need to revive this thread.

I picked up my truck a week ago and moved my Rockymount rack from my 2019 over to 2023. Perfect fit. I REALLY like this rack, but......it doesnt leave me much space in the bed when my kids and I take the bikes on road trips. For short trips around town, it's great however.

I purchased the Bakflip X4S tonneau cover before I even picked the truck up since I liked the design/flush look of it more than anything else. The downside to this move is that I wasn't thinking far enough ahead in that I should really probably go the crossbar route with bike mounts since I could also then benefit from putting our ski box up there in the winter for those weekend trips. That may have lead me down a different road for a tonneau cover, but maybe not if the "Elevate TS Rails" I bought today work as my chat with Realtruck says they will. that should give me the tracks I need for any crossbar.

Is there a crossbar setup that is quick to attach/detatch that hasn't been discussed here? I like the yakima stuff in the first few posts, but how easy is it to remove and setup? Realtruck recommends a Thule system (becuase they sell it I assume), but I'd like more opinions even though they have been great so far. My cover will be useless as far as rolling it up goes with low bars above it, so I'd like whatever I buy to be easy to deal with when I want it out of the way.

Not interested in tailgate pads with carbon frame bikes, and also uninterested in tow hitch mounts even though I am sure they are convenient and easy. Really want to kill a few birds with one stone with crossbars and bike racks that only grab the tires.

sounds like cross bars will work well for you. Easily removed in less than a minute.

Heres my bike mount set up. I have a retraxpro XR bed cover w/ T-rails with Yakima overhaul HD towers and Yakima cross bars. Bought a Yakima high road upright bike mount to mount my bike and no issues so far. Nice and sturdy and easy to remove/mount my bike. I like the Yakima overhaul HD towers due to the ability to mount anything on them. I’m looking at mounting a tent in the future for when I go camping. Feel free to message me if you have any questions about my setup. 65FD76C1-5089-40AF-AC25-820F58F0231D.jpeg

Whoa I wouldn't want my bikes up that high lol. I have the yakima jetstream bars which sit 3 inches above the cover and the bikes are high enough like that :p
