The TRX is some good competition and pushed ford to put the 5.2 V8 in. That way I might be able to buy a used Gen3 in 5 years.

I doubt it. I think they're aiming to compete with an EV. Hence the Hummer. Blown V8s are on their last gasp. Investing a bunch of money in old tech at this point when you could put it into a drivetrain that can be leveraged for decades is a lousy investment. If FCA had not spent nearly a decade and tons of money dicking around with the TRX, I don't think it would have happened.
