GEN 2 Towing a heavy car with a Gen2

I'm looking at buying an old Chrysler to fart around with but it's about 250 miles from home. The dimensions are just inside the max for a UHaul trailer. Car weight is just shy of 4000 pounds, est curb weight. I'm not worried about the weight since the Gen 2 is rated for 8000 pounds.

How much of a nightmare will this be in my Gen 2, coming through the mountains from TN back to Charlotte?

The price of the car is just okay enough to make me buy it as long as I dont wind up at stroke-level blood pressure dragging the thing back to Charlotte...and then to Myrtle Beach.

Youll be fine, just dont have too much tongue weight. Dont forget to put the tranny in "tow" mode

The weight won't be a problem for the engine. Just keep in mind the rating is 8000lbs WITH a WD hidtch and 6000lbs without. Car+Trailer should put you real close to that 6000lbs mark so you can get likely get away without a WD hitch. I would probably back the vehicle onto the trailer to keep the tongue weight/squat under control

I'd add wdh or at least sumo springs

I recently towed a 1969 Mustang with a U-Haul car carrier with my 2019 SCrew over 1500 miles from the San Francisco Bay area to north western Montana. All is well and it was “fun“ in a strange sort of way. I would not worry.

I also towed a 1965 mustang on a U-Haul Trailer (although no where near as long as @Gary M Gere ). The truck was unbothered by it so much so I don’t think the extra 1,600 pounds from your Chrysler would be to much of a concern if at all.

I've carried a pallet of castle blocks on one occasion and a pallet of pavers on another. I think they were both over 3000 apiece. The rear sags but the tires never rub. The engine is working during the event but still holding its own. I have no problem staying with traffic and my house is on a hill but either in forward or revers the Raptor will go up the drive with little effort.

Albeit not a Mustang, I towed a 2,500 trailer with 4 Big ATVs, 4 people in the SCREW with food and riding gear up in the hills of PA. Lead foot never missed a beat.

I decided against the car. It's a neat one but I just dont have the time to mess with it right now. It's a sharp-looking car.

If anyone is in the market for a '53 Chrysler Windsor DeLuxe, I can put you on it for under $4,000.
