Nice pic of your Rap Movinon, now, I agree most of us did not buy our Raps because of resale value. I for one plan to keep mine forever but if I did decide to sell it it would be privately so I would be dealing with someone who would appreciate its being taken care of so well. Dealers look at it and gives you what a book says it’s worth not its actual condition. They really don’t care what you think it’s worth. Raps will always be in demand because they are few and far between in relation to other vehicles. It will always hold good it’s value in the right crowd. Enjoy your ride and stop worrying about what it’s worth later on.

Gen 2 guys better hope Ford doesn’t put the new v8 in a Raptor.

Resale will suffer. Gen 2 Raptors will be like the 996 fried egg Porsche 911s.

Might carry over to the Gen 1 trucks too. If you can get a new truck with a real deal v8, guys like me may consider selling.

IMHO, turbo v6 engines sound gutless at any altitude.

Rumor is the SC V8 will be a $15k option. Add in the inevitable $10k to $20k ADM and you are looking at a $30k more expensive truck. At current resale prices, the 3.5EB will seem cheap and all the interest could actually boost V6 resale values since many of the people who are brought in by the SCV8 buzz but cannot afford one will settle for the V6TT.

Just my opinion -
A 7.0+ normally aspirated direct port V8 will put out similar HP or less to the current 3.5 Twin turbo currently utilized. Larger better designed turbo and intercooler will up the 3.5s HP accordingly. Gas millage will be similar NO MATTER WHAT IS IN THE TRUCK - Heavy truck takes X-HP to move Y-LBS efficiently. Cruising or heavy traffic the direct injection would help gas millage a lot But a heavy RT foot - Self explanatory. (XHP) x (YLBS) = Gas Millage
Now a Blown direct injected 7+ liter V8 would be wicked. Combine that with 4WD standard low ratio gears and Boom to drive train components. It doesn't take a lot of HP to make the 6000 LBS Raptor in low 4WD with 35/37 tires to destroy the drive train. How would FORD keep any type of warrantee. Why do you think the shift pattern in the trucks sucks stock.

If the V8 rumor is true I expect a base V8 Raptor SCAB to msrp for at least $69k plus a $1595 destination fee.

Remember that Ford kept the new GT a secret from everyone until it was announced. I am sure they require employees to agree to a non disclosure agreement. Any violation of this policy would result in immediate termination.

Either V8 or V6... no one can touch the Raptor. I enjoy the whistle of my turbos and I would enjoy the rumble of a V8 but either way I just enjoy driving my raptor. I trust Ford knows what they are doing... sales prove it for sure. I think our value will always hold on the 2nd gen, someone’s going to pay top dollar for it.

8 > 6. No one wanted the ecoboost Raptor to begin with. No one except Ford’s marketing and accountants. No one else.

Dudes buy it now because there’s no other option.

Give them that option and the eco-raptor loses value like yesterday’s sushi.

well that sucks because now we will have to hear and read about the V8 option for another F%##ing year.

that's the funniest post of the month right there! LOL

notice more and more engines are in the turbo sector with less cylinders making much more power than lots a 8s out there.
do i miss the sound of a rumbling V8? of course. if you don't, then you don't belong on any site talking about engines at all.. heheh.
but when i can whistle by a V8 , i get a smile knowing i did it using less fuel, and more torque :driver:

Because you'll be screaming, "But mine sounds cooler!" at the TTV6 that blows past you at 8,000ft?

I've honestly never understood sound being included in the same narrative as performance. Sound is an emotional reaction, and should be categorized with choices like paint color and carbon fiber trim.
