The TRX is gonna be 6 figures, putting it in a completely different market.

I'd be surprised if Dodge allocated the engineering resources required to make the TRX a true offroader the way Ford did.

Most likely they'll stick to the Hellcat formula. Throw a big blower on it, add a lift, toss in flared fenders and body kit, and finish it off with oversized tires.

The TRX will look cool and sound great. It will even bury the Raptor on the drag strip. But will it be a true competitor on the trail? I doubt it.

But as this forum has shown, there are plenty of Raptor owners who would jump ship because they never offroad their raptor and only care about cylinder count, sound, and 0-60 times.

@jaz13 I'm not a RAM fan nor will I buy one but I wouldn't sleep on them. The track width is said to be 6" over a regular RAM (similar to Raptor). And if they can come out with something to make good travel with a linked rear end it could be a game changer for OEM off road setups. My biggest complaint about the raptor has always been the rear suspension. The fact they use blocks in the rear is pretty pathetic IMO. Not saying FCA knocks it out of the park on the first try but competition is good.

That, and I think most raptor owners on here would get it simply because it is more expensive/exclusive

It will be interesting to see if Dodge takes the easy, bolt-on upgrade approach, or if they actually spend time and effort testing and tweaking the design based on offroad miles and feedback from professional racers.

Given how well the Hellcat/Demon/Trackhawk handle, I suspect Dodge will stick with the cheaper and easier upgrade path. IMO that would be a more fiscally responsible approach since they probably won't be able to beat the Raptor on the trail, just match it. And no matter how little they spend on offroad R&D, they'll still get the v8-or-die, 0-60 crowd whether they put in a ton of money optimizing for offroad handling or not. Might as well save the cash and cater to their core audience the same way they did with the Hellcat.

Ford sure could do better with the rear suspension. Likely too big of a PITA for the factory to deviate much from what goes in the other 99% of F150s. Ford is going to have to move away from a leaf spring rear suspension before we see anything different on the Raptor.
