What did u do to your raptor today?

Had my son come over to help put on some new leaf springs. Thought we would start with what we thought would be the most difficult before getting it too far apart. It took some work but we got the nut off the front leaf spring bolt on the passenger side. Proceeded to the driver side and this kicked our ass, ended up giving up. The nut is on the gas tank side as the bolt was already turned around but everything we tried with the tools we had, we couldn’t break the nut loose.

We even tried some redneck engineering when all else failed.

Probably going to have to cut into the spring and cut the bolt out. Another day.

Rather than cutting the leafs, can’t you cut through the nut and bolt? I would assume if you cut the nut in half, you could then break the other half of the not loose? Just a thought.

Try a nut splinter. Local auto parts store may offer free loaner.
It may be a little harder to do because of the flange nut and you will need to use a cold chisels to finish it.
