My little oh shit moment at the Silver Lake sand dunes I was running 16psi to climb up that hill and jump off the other side. Ran around all day HARD and it was fine BUT!
The next time I went I tried 20psi and couldn't make the hill, but every where else was fine. It did tend to sink a bit more so to try the hill I air to 18 and made it.
So really I would say 16 to 20 your call and what you feel comfortable running.
Start off at 20 and go from there.

Wiz is running 20psi here and couldn't make it.

There isn't any climbs at wayanoka that the truck shouldn't be able to get up with full pressure.

Then run 20psi. You'll be good to go.

I also bought a set of these. Was tired of sitting there holding the damn valve to let the air out.

Just put these on and they stop automatically to the pressure you want.

That's pretty cool. Is it a valve stem remover, or does it let pressure out with the valve in place? I just take the valve out but I carry spares cause I know one day I will drop the damn microscopic thing and be screwed.

You get four of them, 1 for each tire to air down at the same time.
You unscrew the cap and screw this on, but you need to remove it once they're done airing down.

By the time you're done with four tires you'll have knee and back problems and half you day in the desert will be gone. If you don't want to buy Ironman's good recommendation, just go to an auto part store and buy a valve stem remover. It's the fastest way to release the air. You just have to be extra careful to hold onto that valve as it comes out cause it will easily get blown out of your grip with the force of the air pressure. Take extras if you can.

All my trips to the sand have been in the 18-20psi range and I've never had any problems. I did have to go all the way down to 10psi to run Olds hill at Glamis though.

Now I feel depressed every time I check my tires.
