I got the LiveWire at AutoAnything.com. It says it comes with pre-loaded tune files. I think 3(?) and holds up to 10 custom tunes.
I have not touched it yet, it's still in the box, I'm planning to have Dave at KHC help me with the whole set up.

I find it strange, that it doesn't come with any instructions at all. Nothing except the print on the box. As a novice, I have no clue what to do with it or where to start. I think a $600 gadget like this should come with a friggin' book, so you can learn it inside out it if you choose to do so.
Now I have to piece together information from SCT, 5Star, the forum...

Anyway, thanks for any feedback and thoughts.

Yes that is strange no instructions at all...the canned tunes are fine, but I would recommend getting Mike's tunes from 5 Star...

I run the 93 Performance Tune...and have the 93 economy and 87 performance loaded on mine

My suggestion is let Dave help you out and give Mike a call @ 5 Star...his tunes work well with our trucks...

I am still thinking bad fuel...did the truck start acting up after you filled up?

It could be unmetered air getting by..

Hockster,

Would that through a code? And why wouldn't the dealer have picked up on something based on how the truck is acting?

Thanks,

Fred

Might set a code but might not. Ive seen them with no codes and a loose clamp on the air tube... and they act real strange when air gets by... The first thing I check is make sure everything is tight...

mine had this problem after the landrush 1000, i found out it was my vaccum system hose came off from all the rattling, make sure there are no leaks in the system maybe make sure your air filter is clean etc. try putting it in tow/haul mode when you jump on it also to see if it is any better or more of the engine performance you are looking for. start simple and check off the things you'd least expect first

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'll have that checked out.

Before I do anything with the LiveWire tunes, I want to get a clear answer on this:
What is involved in restoring the stock/factory tunes in case I want to get the truck serviced? You know - the warranty BS.

from my knowledge learned around here, you can download stock tune and save it to your computer until when you need it for whatever reason, then swap out after market tune with stock before heading to dealer and you are fine. however they say dealers can still find way of knowing if a tune has been programmed ex. if the truck registers over the limited speed from the factory. but its highly unlikely they would look that deep unless it was serious engine issues.

anyone with more extensive knowledge feel free to chime in or please correct me if i am mistaken,

I also have the livewire but i have custom tunes from mike at 5 star. My advice is to try to have the dealers look at it again. Do what lever u have to to recreate the problem. If that doesnt work then maybe try a canned tune and see if it helps. But honestly that canned tune is a can of crap compared to a custom tune. Give mike a call at 5 star and have him make a custom tune. If u plan on doin exhaust and intake wait till then so he can make the tunes for that too. Hope it all works out for u man.

Also dont leave the livewire plugged in for more than a couple days if ur not driving the truck. It will kill ur battery. One guy here had to get a new battery and mine hasnt been the same since it died.

If you can return the LW you got from Auto Anything, call Mike and get him to hook you up with a live wire and his tunes...I think you will be more satisfied and save some money as well.

Brand new truck...take it to dealer.

SCT has an program, pcs only, that you can download...and it saves your stock tune and backups any tunes you have purchased as well...

If you return the truck to stock I think you will need to drive around 80 miles before you take it service...

80 miles in several trips, not at one time.. 2 to 3 run cycles and 80 miles puts enough data to cover the tune.. UNLESS you get a **** ***** that is looking for a reason to deny warranty work..

I didn't think it matters where you get the LiveWire. Custom tunes can be emailed, downloaded and uploaded, right?
Or I can send the unit to 5star...
