Picked up my truck from the hotel parking lot in San Antonio to find the drivers door jimmied.

Handle broken, lock cylinder exposed, damage to the Xpel wrap, and a very small dent. Not much missing inside.

Anybody know of a body shop that’ll put a passenger side door handle on the drivers side in the San Antonio area?

They might of been trying to steal it, did they try to get into the passenger side kick panel?
Hope it was just a fluke, another member just had his truck broken into the same way, but they tried to steal it as well.

These were obviously low tech scum. Were you close to an interstate, outside parking?

I’m now considering the same mod and more much more seriously.

Airport hotel in San Antonio. Truck was in deep sleep mode.

It was a junior thief for sure. A senior thief would have gotten the truck.

I’m in Terlingua now…no locks needed down here.

My question to the group. If I do the door handle mod, what do the thieves do then?

Do they keep prying until the handle pulls all the way out?

I find it hard to believe that junior would notice that there was no lock cylinder. Wouldn’t junior just keep prying on the handle until something gives?

Or is the door handle swap a real deterrent?

If the swap is a deterrent, won’t JR learn to use a bigger/ better tool for the job? Sawzall, grinder, big hammer?

Reach out to Josh @ Alamo Truck Gear he's the owner at their Bandera location here in SA.

1 (210) 522-1122 https://alamotruckgear.com/

He's done several door handles for my trucks & also installed a Ravelco https://www.ravelco.com/ on my Raptor. You're almost guaranteed to get broken into here in San Antonio, I've walked up on guys more than once looking at my truck... I also have a console vault installed. https://www.consolevault.com/

mmayo…thanks.

As it turns out, I need to drive to San Antonio again next week to fly back to MN for a funeral. FIL passed on at age 94.

I’m having Northside Ford put in a passenger side handle on the drivers side. While the truck is at the dealer, the local Ravelco tech will install the anti theft device.

I’ve got one of the console vaults shipping to me, which I’ll install.

A question for you, where did you have the female pin socket put in the Raptor? On the face of the dash, or hidden underneath the dash?

Many thanks. And if you are headed down to TERLINGUA/Big Bend let me know and I’ll gladly show you around the area.

Note to add, I am going to get those Apple AirTags, and hide one or two in my vehicles, This is low cost GPS tracker, $29 a pieces. I heard thieves have been placing them on target vehicles so they can see where you live and places you go. Like this article. So why not hide some in your car, at least you can help law enforcement with some data. I'm sure they got similar for Android users.
