True, unfortunately. The efficient way to solve the problem is tax the hell out of gasoline and diesel and stand back. Top-down control is beyond stupid. But it worked well in the USSR, so there's that. $5 per gallon gas would sure highlight how efficiently the TTV6 makes power.

I would not mind high gas tax if that tax money went to something useful, or came in with a reduction in taxes elsewhere. It's off topic now, but people will be somehow be surprised when they realize that higher gas prices means higher prices on goods and services as well.

There's are darn good chance that's what we'll be seeing with the current President. And there's little chance of that changing course since the response is that higher gas prices just brings us to renewable sources faster.

Self sufficiency is going away. Did you notice the "temporary" ban on drilling?

Most Raptor buyers want the best they can get from Ford. When a 700 HP V8 is an option, the V6 is not what they will choose, even if it's a $10 to $15K bump in price, which it will be.

The MPG just isn't a factor for a lot of people. They have plenty of money and it simply does not matter. And for those where it is- an extra $500 in fuel per year is not much compared to the priced of buying, insuring and maintaining a $75K truck. I put so few miles on mine- that it makes practically no difference if it gets 10 MPG or 20 MPG to me.

Maybe if gas goes back over $4 a gallon, people will start clamoring for the smaller engine again. Given we are self sufficient for oil now though, I'm not seeing that happen anytime soon.

this will be my daily driver and MPG will play a part in my decision making. If the v8 only gets 9 mpg, then i would rather take the EB. not because of the price, but for how often i have to stop and refill for gas. i love going 600 miles without worrying about fuel.

I’d imagine Ford Performance folks are bashing their head against a wall today wondering wtf is wrong with you all. They gave you a 5 link suspension and no one is even ******* talking about it. I’m learning 8/10 Raptor enthusiasts should not be Raptor enthusiasts at all..... ya’ll just don’t get it.

I am probably not in the majority here as I do not own a Raptor. I will be 50 years old this year and have been saving for this for 10 years. My dealer said I will get his first allocation. I am excited about the 2021. I am a current 2019 F150 Lariat (502a Crew 4x4, 2.7 EB). Coming from the 2.7, I could care less about an 8 cylinder. I think it looks and sounds bad ass.

It’s all in where you live and what you do with it.

I have a Gen1 that gets ≈11mpg city and only fill up every two weeks. I rarely run it below a quarter tank at that.

I drive it daily but live in a city of 100K that is fairly small. V8 is worth it for me.

F-150 Raptor has eclipsed the sales of other well-known performance icons. Over the last four years, the previous-generation Raptor cumulatively outsold Porsche’s entire lineup of sports cars and also outsold Chevrolet’s Corvette

Which makes you wonder, the Bronco has zero sales - not the mini one, yet there’s literally a catalog full of stuff you can get for it through Ford. The bronco reveal was orders of magnitude better. Why?

It’s like Ford and F/P haven’t decided on a direction and vision for the truck, despite its cred.

Federal only controls drilling on federal lands.

But it impacts all drilling because of the pressure it puts on other, non-federally controlled land. This was an alpha hotel move that cost people jobs at the altar of the environazis.

Well I like it. Coil rear...pretty cool. New interior...cool. Exterior....cool evolution. No SCAB...bean counter lameness. I didnt expect the V8 just yet so no dissapointment there. Lightness is key.

This is why I bought my SCAB. Mature platform and I don’t have to wade through ADM BS or new model teething and I can enjoy my new truck for a while before maybe picking up an R or even non R in a few years. But an R SCAB with high fuel consumption might not have sufficient range, not that it will exist. Electric not mature enough for me either. It is what it is. If I were to have to choose 2021 vs TRX as it stands....it’s the 21.
