Backstory- I had a 19 raptor scab 801a which was just totaled and trying to figure out what to get next. I would love another scab raptor but I can’t seem to find a scab let along one at a decent price which leaves me with the dilemma of trying to find a screw that isn’t gonna cost me an arm and a leg or getting a 6.7 power stroke and putting a little into it to make it fun. Has anyone gone from a raptor to a 6.7 or vice versa? Really trying to just figure out my options because I have to decide on something and don’t want to wait another year(minimum) for the gen 3s. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also should say I only do very light towing. No real need for the superduty just enjoy how they look and 1050 lb/ft of torque sounds like a blast. Raptor fit my utility needs very nicely. No high speed off roading(east coast) but do get off the beaten path every once in a while.

I have both, a 20 Raptor and a 19 F 350 dually 4 x 4. The dually is my work truck and I just got done lifting it 3.5" and putting 20 x 12" upfront and 20 x 8.25" in the back. I also installed the Banks Derringer on it and it did make it pull harder and accelerate quicker. For the Raptor, suspension upgrades and just got a intercooler to install. For me, they are both fun to drive. I enjoy how smooth the Raptor's suspension. The F-350, I really enjoy it more now that it's lifted. I kinda missed being up high. Both are different, but fun to drive in their own respects.

I went from a 2018 Raptor to a 2020 F250. My main reason for the switch is that I spend a lot of time on both the highway and off-road on oil lease roads. I also tow a 30ft trailer and haul heavy loads with it. The Raptor was great driving but couldn't haul like I needed. I also have upgraded the suspension on my F250 with a Kelderman air lift (4-6" lift) with 22x12" and 37" Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Have nothing but great things to say about Kelderman and the way it rides on and off-road. I haven't done anything to the engine other than a cold air intake and a banks exhaust but it is still a strong motor stock. Not much available for the 2020 SD's is why I haven't done much else. I really like the new SD's for what I use it for.

However it is hard to compare the 2 trucks since they are completely different. If it wasn't for the towing and hauling I would still have my Raptor.

If you aren't towing anything, I don't see the reason for going with a heavy duty truck, not practically anyway. But, if you like the look of the SD over a Raptor, then you have already made your decision. Either way, you can't go wrong, they are both awesome vehicles. I vote Raptor though.

Hard to know what your intentions are with the truck, Raptor is easier to maneuver and off road, SuperDuty is dedicated tow rig that is also a good DD. I'd base my decision on what you plan on using the truck for most.

I have a huge thread on this exact scenario when my 18 screw was totaled Halloween 2020

long story short- I was looking at tremor w/ 6.7 diesel & came to the conclusion it’s just too much truck for what I do & the gasser version wasn’t an option for me as it felt underpowered

luckily I was able to find an 801a screw 2020 new in lead foot & got it for $1k under sticker (def sellers market these days) now at this point I imagine even harder to find a new raptor & even harder to find one without ADM....not sure how many scabs were made in 2020, but my guess is bout a bakers dozen cuz I never saw or heard of one and I looked everywhere

At end of day if I couldn’t find another new raptor that fit my needs/wants I would’ve gotten the F250 tremor w/ 6.7

I had my raptor tuned & have a 720whp vette- I’m all for power/performance, but even I can admit if you’re not towing/hauling/plowing regularly a truck pushing 1000+ TQ is simply insane, especially b/c the superduty trucks offer only regular 4x4 no 4A or awd option like the raptor, w/ an empty bed the thing spins tired all over the time w/ just normal throttle input, would need to change driving habits a good deal b/c on top of that they’re much worse at cornering (obviously) however the ride quality & general handling are WAY improved over previous SD trucks - and the way they pull @ highway speeds given the size & purpose is just not right lol

Gotta ask b/c it’s kind funny- but if you got the SD b/c you “haul heavy loads” & tow a 30’ trailer regularly, + drive off road on oil fields regularly, why on earth would you put 22” wheels on it!?!?!?

I saw an F250 w/ pretty much same setup (wheels had some kinda weird offset stuck out but more than normal) & he was towing a huge smoker/BBQ trailer loaded up w/ ton of stuff in bed too, the way he had it parked the front wheels cocked to the side I swear it looked like he was just gonna lose the bead & maybe there’s 2.5” of sidewall? How in the hell could that make for a good ride in a 7k lb vehicle!!!!!

it does look good though

Pretty sure that look is a Texas thing, lots of that in the oil fields. Filthy trucks worth north of $100K with 100% custom welding set beds, and 22" wheels with massive tires lol, very strange sight to get used to if you're not from around there.

Yeah I got to drive a new 6.7 and no doubt they spin the tires like crazy. It probably is more truck than I need(the 6.7 that is) but you hit the nail on the head with limited availability for raptors and no scabs. I just found out my truck was totaled today so I have a little bit of time to keep looking just not a ton. Never a good time to get a truck totaled but right not might be one of the worst in terms of what Ford is doing with their new lineups.
