Or you could just put the shifter back on the column and have a flat space without having to design an over complicated shifter assembly?

In before the development dwelling yuppies say that column shifters don’t fit the lifestyle image they’re desperately trying to project.

The column shifter is just another big expensive electrical switch too. When there was a mechanical linkage to the tranny, it made sense. These days, not so much. Not at all, really.

Been thinking about it, and this probably is the issue. They want the standard transmission look because it's so manly without having to pump that clutch, bulk their left thighs, and ruin the drape of their designer jeans. LOL

my 802a has memory. dont understand why one would rather insert and twist a key as opposed to push a button

I kinda agree with him, actually. My wife's car has push button start and my truck doesn't. The push button start has it's disadvantages, too. I'd call it a wash for convenience. Ford gouges you for it, it's more stuff to break, and it's a security risk. I can always unlock the door to pop the hood with my old-school key, even if the battery fails. Given a choice, I will opt out, even if the price is the same.
You do realize if the battery fails you can still unlock the door and drive the truck right? The smart key key is a better option in all aspects

Yeah, about six people have already pointed that out. Thanks.
It just didn’t seem like a very moot point to make if you already knew you could open the door and drive the truck even if the battery in the fob is dead.

You might want to look into that. There’s still a linkage to the transmission on all of Ford’s automatics unless you have the dial shifter.

Could you restate that please? In English. Do you even know what a moot point is? Did I say that I knew it had a key before people pointed it out?
