the trans has a thermostatic cooler, so if it got hot enough the thermostat would just stay open no matter how much fluid.....

what was the temp you were seeing.. 198 is normal af

230 is where id start to be concerned, and id start backing my driving style down..

i run dunes a few times a year and the highest i ever remember was 227 on gen1 and 220 on gen2

driving around town 195-200 is normal because of the thermostat..

Was up at Silver Lake dunes a few months ago. Was running hard all day. NONE of my temp gauges moved AT ALL. I was both on the sand, and definitely IN the sand. Like @Nex says, seems like a cooling issue/blockage perhaps.

Isnt like 215 normal ops temp for gen 2? Whats another 15 degrees. If I had a gen juan I would have amsoil atf in it…upgrade the cooler to the full race unit made by cfs.

I was driving on the off road beach area … wasn’t stuck at all
Like a few others have posted 195-210 is normal operating temp for the 6R80.
Pounding the crap out of mine on a short course I think it only climbed to 220.
I have an N'Gauge to monitor temps etc. so I never look at the factory gauge to see where the needle is.
