I removed my bed extender from my 2021 limited just before trading it in last week.
I was about to install it in my Gen3 over the weekend but to my surprise no threads to mount to lol
Not sure if this is COVID build quality or all of 2022 come this way.
Even then I guess there has to be a way to mount the bed extenders somehow.
I sent email to my service advisor he’s also scratching his head. He’s going to compare to another 2022 and let me know what can be done.
Can you guys please check your bed pls and let me know.

Same here. Just took delivery of my 22 on Friday. I was going to put my old bed extender in and noticed that while installing my tonneau cover.

I’m glad I’m not the only one, there’s gotta be a way then or perhaps a newer bed extender model Or hardware

this one says its specific to 21/22 but looks like it requires the same threaded hole. The one I was gonna use was from my 19 but they still look the same
I was using mine in 2021 limited which had the threads. I’m sure they changed in 2022
There’s a picture showing different mounting but wasn’t clear. I’ll try to find it. It looks like new one might have 3 pull handles instead of 2

Interesting...
I was wondering if I could move mine from the '17 Gen 2 and move it to the Gen 3.
Maybe not....

I had this issue and took the truck to the Ford dealer. Upon inspecting a few other trucks it seems that this changed somewhere along the December build timeframe. The shop foreman said there are many random changes like this that Ford does and doesn't tell anyone. And his answer was, that's just the way it is, and there isn't anything they can do. So I returned the bed extended and bought a compression one from Amazon.

Well that just sucks. I’m still hoping Ford has a newer hardware to mount these to our trucks.

Hey guys… I recommend using riv-nuts.Rivet Nut Tool, GIANTISAN 16" Rivnut Tool Kit with 12 Metric and SAE Mandrels, Nutsert Rivet Tool Set with 176Pcs Assorted Rivnuts, Threaded Insert Hand Riveter with Rugged Carrying Case https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VPB676Y/?tag=fordraptorforum-20

I used this kit to install my oil catch can in my Expedition. The Expedition does not have the provision on the firewall to mount the Full Race catch can like the F-150. I had to drill holes to accept the riv-nuts. You guys already have the holes according to the pics above.
