Just an update:
The parts guy at my local dealership informed me that I would have to send in my control unit to be repaired and it would be in excess of $400.
If I would try to get a new unit it would not be available, would be more expensive and would have to be programmed to work with my system.
I put in a search with a nationwide used parts locater and found a unit for a 12 HD that came with the complete front Bezel for $175; with shipping less then $200
I installed it and it works just fine, no programming, nothing, it just works,...and I have a spare front Bezel with the other components.
