I've heard **** story's of the fines letting loose. Little at a time no big deal all at once problem.

I like the idea of a magnetic plug but I know I'll keep the oil fresh and that is #1 in my book. I am also thinking of putting a Mag Hytech diff cover on and I know it has a magnetized plug. I assume these covers are good quality?

I don't have any experience with covers. Honestly, I would just go online and buy a couple rare earth magnets and electric tape them on to the oil filter. Be extremely easy to do and they are really strong. When you change your oil filter, just peel the tape, toss it. Put the magnets on the new filter and retape.
