I've been getting an intermittent clunk when engaging 4wd. It only seems to happen if i engage before going up a steep logging road. If i engage 4wd on flat ground its fine and if i engage well before the hill i'm fine. Its a very violent clunk like something is slamming into engagment and its a scary, feels like something is going to break sound. I've visually checked the IWE lines and no obvious issues there but i may replace it anyway. Has anyone else had this issue? When it does happen it only happens 1-3 times and then all is good.

Depending on how loud it is some noise is normal. The owners manual even talks about it.
However, if your engaging the 4x4 while moving and the rear end is slipping a slight bit the difference in wheel speed will cause the T case to slam into gear.

My new IWEs make a little bit of noise when engaging.
Nothing I would call loud, slam, or bang though.
When I first got my Raptor, the transfer case shift motor was bad.
It did some nasty stuff before I replaced it.
