I have gone atleast 10 miles when it said 0 miles to E

Sometimes when im on the phone i completely forget to stop and fuel up!

Be careful with that. I got down to 0 and the second I did putt putt die. I ran out right on the money.

If you've been driving largely around town and then make a longer freeway trip, you can pull that off. Try the reverse and you'll run out on the spot. It has to do with the MTE calculation being thrown by a dramatic change in the trend from the first part of the tank.

Have you guys tried flooring it when your down to a few miles left ? It wont let you, I went to make a pass with like 20 miles left and it cut the throttle out mid pass.

I've never had such a drastic change in mine once it reads 50 to E. Not on my Scab nor the Screw. Maybe I have a fluke truck. It's usually pretty damn accurate.

Same as Swoop. Mine is eerily accurate.

Cerberos, you still had 1.3 gallons left. Could've easily gone another 15 miles.:birgits_tiredcoffee

Double ditto, mine is pretty damn accurate.

Triple ditto.

I've never run out of gas in the Raptor (ran out of fuel once about 10 years ago in a mean snowstorm in Colorado, had to trek over a mile to a gas station and then back with a gas can in snow-soaked jeans freezing my ass off, swore to myself I'd never ever run out of gas again as long as I live) but based on the amount of fuel mine takes when it's low, my 'MPGs Left' calculator seems very accurate in my 2010.

I ran out once on trip from Ohio. I filled up on the west side of Columbus towing the Shelby. When I got about 50 miles from Effingham IL, it said I had about 65 miles left. Needless to say, I was 1/4 mile from the off ramp when it died. I had to call Ford Roadside Assistance and they brought out 2.5 gallons free of charge. The guy who came out tried to use a funnel to put it in the tank and it wouldn't work. I used the spout on the gas can and put it in myself with no problem. Since then, I look for the next place to get gas when I get that low again.

This tidbit I never ran upon before. I'll have to try it to see for myself. It must be some kinda safe guard they built into the computer to save your ass from running out before you reach 0 miles.

...or the last of the gas sloshed rearward in the tank and he was suffering from fuel starvation.
