Is that just to fix the body? Or any type of mechanic work too? I can't see Ford pulling that one.

Makes sense to me.
I can understand Ford's position, ultimately Ford is who gets sued if one of their vehicles is in an accident and someone gets hurt. How the body is assembled can have an effect on a vehicle's crash ability. So lets say bubba jones has his F150 fixed by his cousin who uses screws and bubble gum to replace the front clip. Bubba sells the truck to an unsuspecting person who then crashes into a light pole & gets seriously hurt. Since the front clip wasn't installed as per Ford's methods the airbag doesn't work right and the driver is badly hurt. Who gets sued & ends up paying? Ford, not bubba's cousin, because Ford has more money.
And really, aluminum or not, do you want some hack repairing your $30-50K truck?

That same argument can be used on any truck, not just an aluminum Ford one.
