I replaced my rear rotors and pads with CarQuest brand last winter. The stockers were ground up by mud thrown by the front tires. I have felt no real difference in stopping ability from stock, except on one occasion.

I was on a fire road that that is like a WRC special stage, about 6 miles long. Pushing real hard the brakes faded bad about 4 miles in, I backed off a bit and stopped at the end of the 6 miles to the wonderful smell of burning brake pads. The stock front rotors were dark red and blue and the rear CarQuest rotors were blue. Stopping ability was reduced for a time after that, but has been factory like since with good wear also.

If I were to get brakes again without being "under the gun", I would use Ford rotors and Hawk pads.

Hawk Pads maybe my alternative if porterfield doesn't work out. Some better brake fluid probably wouldn't hurt either.

Anyone run some of the EBC pads on a raptor? I put new rotors and 7000 greenstuff pads on the front of my 4runner but I also upgraded to tundra brake parts instead of the stock rotor and pad size. They stopped great and have good reviews. But anything was better than stock 4runner brakes they were under engineered from the start.

I was thinking maybe the yellow pads or maybe the 7000 green pads.

I noticed Ford ran the yellow pads on the ecoboost raptor's. They might be worth trying.

Here is the stuff i used on my 4runner. 99% sure this is how i'm going but dont know if yellow or green will be the pad of choice.

So I went with the motocraft front pads, and I am not happy, they are squeaking really bad already, and they dont feel good with my new Generals. I did some research on the EBC stuff, and it looks good. Called the local O'reillys and they can get all the EBC stuff. So, big debate here. Here are the options as I see it.

New EBC-UPR Rotors all the Way Around with yellow pads: $883.82 less tax.

New EBC-UPR Rotors all the Way Around with green 7000 pads: $860 less tax.

New EBC-UPR Rotors in front and yellow pads all the way around: $610

New EBC-UPR Rotors and yellow pads in front only, leaving the back stock: $493

What's everyones thoughts? I'd prefer not to drop nearly a grand on brakes, but its brakes, kinda need em. I know most of the bias is towards the front, but you gotta give the back some love...

I'd skip the rear. Focus on the front...

I really don't think you'll get any benefit our of increased braking out back unless you are loaded down. There's just no weight back there so your traction is the limiting factor.
