But to what end? What updates is he supposed to provide?

If you've ever been through any sort of legal matter like that, things move very slowly. Like, days/weeks/months go by with almost no movement. And even if there is movement, disclosing that information can jeopardize negotiations.

Again, I don't want to overstep and share information I shouldn't, but if I were in his position losing a few customers to other sites is the battle. Winning the war is settling with Ford and keeping his business alive.
