I'm debating between an FX4 and a Raptor. Please don't be one sided (although it is the Raptor forum). Going to be straight to the point.

I can get a new 2014 crew cab Raptor with everything I want for $55,030

I can get a new 2014 FX4 with the SAME options as that Raptor (MSRP $50,440) for $42,000 (I have a hook up)

Now, I live in Miami so it's flat, I do very little off roading right now. So the off road factor isn't a big thing, although I do have a house in North Carolina that I go to a lot which is why I need a 4x4.

I want to know if it's worth the extra $13,000 to get a Raptor that will mostly be for everyday city use.

Both vehicles are 4x4, moonroof, navigation, back up camera, painted bed liner.

Monthly payments would be about $500 for the Raptor and about $350 for the FX4.

I need to decide by this Saturday (May 3rd) because my hook up is awaiting my decision.

If you can provide pros and cons that would be great.

Do you want an average 4x4 (FX4) or do you want the most badass 4x4 (Raptor)? The Raptors turn heads! Does the FX4? I doubt it. The choice for me was simple.

If you want to blend in with the rest of the Ford F150's I would go with the FX4. The Raptor is unique with the suspension, grill, wheels, width and overall appearance. I would go Raptor all the way!

If you have to ask on a Raptor forum then you know the answer.

If it's an economical thing then it's the Fx4. If you like the attention and the power and being cool then it should be the Raptor. Also the Raptor does ride much better than an Fx4. You can't get a 6.2 in an Fx4 I don't think. resale on the Raptor is much higher than the Fx4.
There's good reasons for both pro and con. Do you want to be practical or do you want to be cool and have fun and show off a little.
If the money is not an issue then get the Raptor. You will always want one if you don't get it. You notice a Raptor going down the road but you don't notice an Fx4 no matter how clean or farkled out it is.

P.S. I had to make the same choice. Glad I picked the Raptor and I haven't regretted it in any way.

Get the Raptor if you can afford the extra dough. It doesn't matter which truck you have in the city as their footprint is identical. (Raptor stance 7" wider)The Raptor really does have nice road manners. The suspension that makes it complient off-road carry over to street use too. The Raptor's depreciation rate is dramatically less than an FX4 so you can't lose.

Driving a Raptor says a lot about the owner. Driving the most capable light truck made says you are a person without compromise.

You will never regret owning a Raptor. ( except for
when you start the mod habit that most FRF members are afflicted with)
Good luck

I have had two Raptors, my first one was flawless and very reliable. My new one has 600 miles and have owned for under one week, honestly there is simple something special about these trucks! Get the Raptor, fantastic trucks!

* Just to add to what Backinblack related regarding trade in values, WOW, my 2012 had almost 35,000 miles and my trade in value was just over 88% of my original purchase price! Hold there values is a understatement!

If you can afford it go for it. They will hold their market value better than the fx4. So if you ever change your mind you will get a great trade in value.

Where in NC do you go to? And when will you be up this way next. We do monthly meet ups. The next one is 5/24 at lake Jocassee. Maybe you can bring the new truck ;-)
