Bass Pro has a slick little electronic (with key back up) gun safe on sale this weekend. It is a Stak On unit for $49.95. I was over there yesterday and picked one up on a whim.

I'll probably bolt mount this some point but it comes with a cable lock. The box fits PERFECTLY between the toolkit and amp under the rear seat of my Super Cab. I looped the cable around the seat bracket and that was it! It meets my needs for the time being. Yes, the cable could be cut with bolt cutters but fortunately car burglers don't usually carry these. Anyway, I thought I would share..............

Is this the one you purchased? If so, you got a great price. The 1 guy who summited a review didn't like the product but he paid $25 (50 percent) more for it.

Yep, reg price is $80. I have no complaints so far. Nice and roomy and the electronic lock is easy to operate in the dark.

I will probably bolt mount this at some point. Either through the floor board or fabricate a bracket using the passenger side seat bracket. Stay tuned......

Not to rain on your parade, but watch this:

Remind me to thank these guys for educating car burghers on how to break into my safe :-(

In all seriousness, thanks for the info. Given enough time, NO safe is completely secure. This takes care of most immediate concern. Smash and grab. I have good insurance for everything else.

Disappointing that it's so simple to break into but it would take some time. The key issue IMO is the cable lock - it's not sufficient to secure the "safe" into the Raptor. A thief would simply cut the cable (and a thief would probably have a cutter to do that since even bike thieves carry them) and break into the "safe" later.

If one was to bolt the safe into the vehicle I think it would suffice since few people would work on breaking into the unit while hanging out in the vehicle.
