I just read about the Cobb deal. How do you switch between the Cobb tunes - does that ap always stay plugged in?
It doesn't need to stay plugged in at all times. Just when you are flashing. I haven't plugged mine back in since the initial flash. I just store it away. There is a sequence you need to follow anytime you make changes to any tunes/flashes. Simple, but not quite "on the fly". Check out GooseTuned, he's a vendor here who can help you out.

It defaults to normal eco with auto stop/start because Ford wants it that way in their method of ‘compliance’ with EPA & CAFE. The newer Ford Exploder ST for example has a USABLE normal mode that doesn’t behave like eco. I can get along with Normal with a pedal commander on a reasonable setting. City, City +1 tops. Anything else makes other drive modes more touchy.
100% agree and your first sentence is what I was trying to say in a different way. Normal mode is the way it is because of the .GOV, you can say "compliance" but if they don't comply they don't do business.

My brother has a Edge ST and yea normal is more normal and "sport" is very aggressive. I wonder if that has to do with trying to squeeze every last drop of MPG out of the F150, while the Explorer and Edge get decent mpg to begin with.

Also, the COBB Accessport has a built in "pedal commander" and other more useful things. Read into it... Although I HIGHLY recommend Goosetune's work (purchase accessport/tune from him), the unit is great with off the self COBB engine and trans maps as well. HOWEVER, I hear Baby Jesus drowns BOTH a kitten AND a puppy every time some wastes the potential. Well, that's what I "hear" anyways.

Tow/haul mode seems to be a good half way point from normal to sport for me. Sport in my G2 was a little over the top for the daily commuting grind (I don't need to be at 3K rpms cruising along at 40mph), but tow mode sharpened things up about half way from normal. Normal mode can be frustratingly sluggish.

Yeah I agree I just hate that have to do that. I really want normal mode reprogrammed
I like the idea of Cobb tube but can’t picture how to switch into that mode

I guess I am asking does the Cobb tune or whatever tune I do replace the normal drive mode? Can I still go to weather or Baja mode with steering wheel toggle
How do switch to the Cobb tunes after update or flash is done or is it sort of locked into that new tune?

So... the Edge & Explorer normal drive modes are more normal and the Raptor normal drive modes are not normal. ;-)

Is the Jen Tres ‘normal’ more normal or less normal than normal? I think that the drive for economy was only part of it, I think they ran out of ability to have a normal and eco drive mode on the Rap electronics in ’17 and not wanting it to hurt the average fuel economy of the fleet that much, they made eco mode normal, but as we know, you can’t normalize eco mode, it just frustrates the driver and makes them go to sport!

Hopefully the new normal is better.

Gen 1 is the answer. 1 drive mode, no issues.

Actually... I don’t need much convincing in that regard. I do kind of look forward to the day when we can go back to a simple, get in the truck, start it up, drive it off and if I come home and decide I want to rip it up in the back 40, I don’t have to flip a few buttons and hope the transfer case complies. And I’ll be honest:

We really just have the drive modes to flex on the Jen Juan. I’m kind of over them now.
