GEN 2 Garage Layout with Scab

Now that I brought my Scab home, I need to figure out how everything goes in the garage. Since I'm a dork I measured everything out previously to fit my diesel truck in. The diesel truck wasn't daily driven, so I was able to tuck it in tight along the left side. The raptor will be my daily, so I want it to be a straight in and out operation. The Bronco is barely drive able and will be getting a LS swap sometime soon. I put up a poll so you can vote for options, pick up to two.

Here is the previous layout with my diesel truck. I would line up the Dodge, and pull it left towards the shelving after the mirror cleared the door. My car was parked outside for the past 4 years. It was a tight squeeze to get in the Dodge when her SUV was there, but doable as I could open the door to the first detent.


Here are some ideas I've been kicking around.

#1 The Raptor goes on the left, the Bronco tucked in on the right 12" past the edge of the door, and she parks in the small bay. This puts the Bronco close to the toolbox. The negative I see here is parking the Raptor passenger side blind daily, but I do have a good reference line in the form of a concrete seam on the driveway. I have 3' to open my door against the Bronco and 2.75' to open the passenger side door against the shelving (would put foam anywhere the doors could hit).


#2 puts the Raptor where I can park it drivers side to the door, making it easier to see pulling in and with full door opening on the drivers side. The Bronco is farther from the main tool box but I still have the cart nearby. The negative is not being able to open the passenger side door on the Raptor and only having about 16" of clearance on that side. Also the door on the back wall is blocked, but I almost never use it.


#3 puts the Raptor where I can park it drivers side to the door, making it easier to see pulling in. The Bronco is farther from the main tool box but I still have the cart nearby, but with it backed in I have a little more space when pulling the Raptor in. The negative is not being able to open the passenger side door on the Raptor and only having about 16" of clearance on that side. Also, in winter the front of the Bronco will be colder near the door, but I have more space with the door open to pull an engine.


#4 is the wife parking outside in the snow in the winter, which is fine for the sedan but won't work when the 2021 Bronco arrives. I could park the Raptor basically however I wanted in the big bay with tons of space. Workspace in front of the Bronco is a bit tighter.


Thoughts?

I'd probably do #1. Try one and if you don't like it, change it up.

My wife does park outside. I tried giving her the one side but she kept smacking her mirrors and finally backed out before the door was all the way open and tore the bottom panel off the door and the roof wing off her MDX... she put herself outside for good after that one. It’s not that big of a car but she’s pretty bad with where the edges are.

That’s the other guy. I’m not buying her a brand new anything lol.

That's good. I guess I should look at who posted what before I reply.

You will get very good at parking your raptor after a bit of practice. I have to back my raptor in at my other house with the drivers side against the wall and shimmy out the drivers door and suck my gut in to get out. I've been so close to the wall that I've left tire marks from the left rear tire on the drywall. At my other house I can drive in with tons of room. I say park to the left beside your Bronco project and let the wife park to the far right.

So I think the wife as accumulated enough spousal points for a garage spot, even if it’s a token offer. I’d arrange it Rap next to wife’s peasant car. This gives more room to open the Rap doors. Project Bronc will need to live outside going forward, unless room is needed to work on the truck, short term.
