So far I have not seen a dealer out of state be able to register the car to CA from out of state... If this is possible, this would be the ONLY way to not have to weigh the truck and get a smog...

they can't. i just bought mine from Ricart Ford in Columbus , Oh , they couldnt sell the vehicle to california. i briefly explained to them it was ca compliant and they could sell it to me, but it's on me to get it smogged and weighed, they didn't believe that, so i just registered it in montana instead. It is a pita , but way worth it to buy out of state .

The reason for not ordering w/ CA Emissions

I just found out why the box isn't checked for CA emissions when they are ordered. It can't be ordered as a "stock" unit with out of state emissions. It CAN be ordered w/ CA emissions if CA isn't the home state on a "retail" unit. (One that is specifically ordered for a customer)

Source: I am a Ford Salesman

P.S. PM me if you want to buy a Raptor @ sticker! We order our allocations as "stock" units more or less fully loaded. This is why people have problems not having CA emissions and I would assume why Ford has made all Raptors 50 state compliant.

CHEERS!

My thanks to everyone who contributed above. I just today ordered a 2018 Raptor out of State and was worried when a friend asked if it was going to be CA Emissions compliant...I had assumed that all vehicles were 50 State emissions compliant and it appears they are. So getting a smog and the Raptor weighed is no big deal. My dealer even told me he'll be charging me CA tax. So all looks good, thanks again!!

Can anyone explain the difference, if any, between the 2017 and 2019 emissions sticker. Referring to ULEV125 LDT and ULEV70 LDT. I purchased my 2018 in Texas and it has the same sticker as the 2017 posted. I contacted a dealership in Texas (2019 raptor) and they said that the truck will not pass emissions in CA and New Jersey. I know all raptors have the emissions sticker but noticed a difference in the two stickers. I would like to purchase the 2019 and register it here in CA .

Disregard the post above. Texas dealership will not sell to me since I live in CA.

Stupid dealers. every single raptor is 50 state legal.

Agree man. Per the dealership "We must be a California dealer to order a truck that is California inspected/emissions. Apologies!!!"

Yup brought my truck into California from Illinois with no problem at all. Just needed weight and smog and they handed me a registration sticker. As stated above, pretty much every vehicle from every company is 50 state legal.

I brought my current rig from a dealership in Texas (San Antonio) and had no problems getting it registered here in CA. Not sure why this dealership in Texas (Houston) is not allowing the sale. All good, I'll try someone else.
