Good on the trailer, as bad of luck you had that day, I figured that it would've jack knifed and bent the tongue.

Man this totally sucks. I saw this happen a few years ago to a guy with a really nice dodge/cummins. They had to get a diver the lake was so deep. Hope you come out OK on the insurance.

Regarding the truck shifting into 4wd after it went under, I'm thinking that's due to the IWE hubs or the vacuum system failing. The springs try to engage 4wd all the time, and when the engine is running the vacuum system disengages them. Anybody want to correct me? Thinking about it more, I understand how the hubs would lock, but still not sure how the transfer case would have engaged 4wd.

Well the hubs do, but the transfer case wouldn't. This is my first ford though so I'm no guru on the system. Just trying to understand what might have gone on mechanically, I'm sure there's somebody on here who knows this better than I.

A veteran of hundreds of boat launches, and seen my share of "Oh Shit" moments glad everyone walked away. The trucks easy to replace.. keep looking you'll get what you need... and want... Insurance wise tell them you don't want money go get you a new truck.. That's where the tires meet the road so to speak.. There not going to find you one for MSRP let alone invoice... SO let them get you one.. My insurance bases value on replacement cost. So they get newspaper ads for the vehicle and try to get you to settle on that. That's really the test of value how much can you buy one for, right now today... Call a couple dealers and get there offers and submit those to the insurance..

My buddy's dirtymax started to slide down one day and we jammed the wakeboard boat on the trailer real quick and hammered down! it saved that truck
