BakFlip Install Questions

I just installed my new BakFlip HD tonight. The instructions appear to be from a G2 and there were parts listed in the instructions that didn't come with my cover. First, the instructions said that I would need to use shims for the clamp that fasten the rails to the bed. I didn't get any shims and the rails seem to attach fine without them. Did anyone else's cover come with shims? Second, there were 3 pieces of self-adhesive weatherstripping that were taped to the bottom of the cover. I have no idea where these go. The instructions don't say anything about them. At first, I thought that they went on the tailgate somewhere but that doesn't appear to be the case. The cover is on and seems to be functioning properly but the screwed up instructions have me a little perplexed.

Oh, and the rubber strips go on contact points between the cover and the back of the cab.

I saw that video and figured that part out after the fact. The shims are still a mystery.

I hope that's the case with mine as well. I didn't notice anything like shims when I was installing the rails.

Shims

Bakflip for the Ford F150(Raptor) does not require shims! When ordered if your vehicle model requires shims it will come in the package.

I have an F1 and I didnt need shims.

Mine had a small sticker on it that said shims already installed. They ran the whole edge on both rails.

It does need shims but they are pre installed. It says it in the manual.
