I've seen many threads on the panoramic sunroof issues on f150s including the raptor. I recently started having issues on my sunroof. It opened and made a loud BANG and while it opened, it sounded like something broke. After that, for a few weeks it worked normally as if nothing happened. Then today, when I opened my sunroof, it did not open all the way. When I took a look at my sunroof from the top, I saw that there was a broken plastic piece on the track. I think that the track broke because if I can recall correctly, these tracks are made of plastic. UGGGHHH!!!! I just hope that this is covered under my extended warranty, as my factory warranty had just expired. Anyone have any experience with the dealership with extended warranties if they take care if this issue or not??!!

I also just saw a TSB: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10153936-9999.pdf

Does this mean that the dealership will take care of this issue if my track is truly broken and replace it?

Thank you all in advance....

extended warranty should cover it, mercifully, as it’s a very pricey fix. I was quoted $1800.00 out of warranty for the stealership to fix. Probably can get a private shop to do it for half that but I didn’t want to pursue that route.

If you saw the numerous threads, you probably saw that there is a workaround or 2

1) if you haven’t opened the moon roof in a while, open to the Vent position FIRST!
- if it’s been a really long time, when you open it to vent for the first time, push up gently on the rear of the front glass as you open to vent with the button.
2) lubricate the rubber seal to front glass with the ubiquitous Krytox grease periodically.
3) if you have the stealership service your truck, ask them to perform this for you each time you go in.
4) open and close the moon roof on a regular basis.

I literally just scored my first supply of it off amazon and can’t comment on whose might be better. Maybe others could opine?

I just had mine fixed yesterday. Here is the thread https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/sunroof-broke-this-morning.77226/

As for the lube, I used the kind noted in this TSB.

It needs to be under warranty HOWEVER, the parts aren't more than $350 and no more than 1 hour of labor so it's about $600-$700 out the door.

There is also a link in my post about how to do it yourself. It's not hard and the parts are easy to get.

Thanks, I’ll keep that I’m mind for next time. Will take extra care of my sunroof once I get it fixed. Will keep you guys updated...

So just to clarify, this will be covered under my extended warranty, right?, considering the fact that there is a TSB for this??

Depends on the kind of warranty you got. Ford has 4 that cover different things. Also, a TSB isn’t a recall so you will still need to pay a deductible if you have one. If it’s not covered, you need to pay for the whole thing out of pocket.

I have the premium fully loaded extended 100,000 mile warranty. How much would the deductible be??

The vista roof is covered with that plan but again, without knowing, I have no idea what your deductible will be. Could be zero. Could be 200. I didn’t buy it and I wasn’t there when you did. Call your dealer or look at your paperwork.
