Tell me if I’m right or wrong. I’ve been looking on real estate websites, mostly Zillow, and I put in neighborhoods in Montana, the Dakotas, Idaho, and anywhere around there, and every single thing if it’s halfway decent is just super expensive. When did the rugged West become so expensive?

The Flathead valley (Kalispell, Whitefish, Cfalls, Bigfork and Lakeside) has got to be one of the most picturesque places in the country but kinda stayed off the main radar though that’s gradually changed in the last 20 years. Whitefish in particular is probably the most expensive location in Montana... lake frontage on WF lake goes for around 10k per frontage foot (so a mil for 100ft). Less expensive on the massive Flathead lake and Ashley (my lake) and Bitterroot lakes. Still, there are decent places to be had even on the lakes though I admit I was pretty lucky to get what I got when prices were low (Don’t think I’d spring for my over 600’ of frontage at current prices...). Right now, prices are really up, a phenomenon accentuated by Covid as MT has become a desirable escape. It is an amazing place to live. The more desirable places in the mountain west have been pretty spendy for a while now. But if you’re willing to live out of town a bit, there are some good options. I’m a little closer in on one of the “main” lakes so not cheap here. I’m several miles off pavement though so for me, the Raptor actually is a practical vehicle.

Changed my oil for the first time on Raptor. Dealership had done the first 2 for free, but I always like to change my own. HOLY CRAP, what a mess. I read up on tips and ideas, I knew it was going to be messy, but dang. Oil dripping out of skid plates all over. My 15 KR with an ecoboost was nothing like this. I put the Fumoto valve in and expect my next oil change to be much cleaner. Now back to cleaning up my garage floor. :)

Edit: Now Sunday morning and I now know how to remove the skid plates and de-oil them. ugh. Just couldn't take it with oil dripping out of every hole in a skid plate. Oh well, always good to get underneath your truck, learn and look around.

Why the switch back to 35's?
37s aren't worth it unless you want to spend like $4k+, ill run them in a few years, but I actually don't think they look proportioned to the truck with stock fenders and wheels. Im liking the Toyo RT and Method wheel combo much better.

The 37s were alot smoother though on the road.

People from California and New York cash in their shitholes for $5-10M and have plenty of money to outbid the locals ...
