Today I was towing ~1500lb. trailer on the interstate. One a couple of occasions the truck need to downshift into 8th in order to maintain speed while climbing. This shift was much sharper than I would expect. The downshift from 10 to 9 was smooth and the remainder of the shifts were smooth but from 9 to 8 was brutal on a few occasions.

The truck is a 2017 with 37k miles.

Anyone else experience anything like this? Thanks.

I have not had this experience, but my friend with a 2017 had warranty work performed for hard transmission shifts. I believe there is a TSB on it that applies to build dates through mid-2018?

I have a 2017 and since I bought it I would have issues with rough shifts out of P, 3rd to 5th and downshift 5th to 3rd. The control module had to be replaced 2x. Each time the control module was replaced the transmission was smooth as butter and then went back to being a pain in the a$$. Its going to go back in the shop next month...

I had hard shift issues also. Took it to dealership and had them reset the system. Smooth shifting ever since.

I had hard shifts from 4-5 and 7-8 in both normal mode and sport mode. Sport mode was so bad it felt like I was rear ended so quit using it because I was afraid of causing permanent damage. Did some searching and found a TSB that documented the problem. The PCM re-flash fixed it and it was a night and day difference. I now use sport mode all of the time.

Received and update from the dealer last week. The transmission is leaking. They will have to replace the gaskets/seals and disassemble to inspect for damage. Seems like a pretty dramatic failure at 37k miles.

Things like this happen. At least you have the power train warranty. Another 13k and you might have been in trouble. Glad you're getting is fixed.
