Ridiculous and ignorant comment. My 2 teenage sons and all of thier friends are V8 fans. Its all about preference everyone prefers different things. Ford has left a vacuum of need in the market that dodge is going to fill its that simple.

My first car was a 99 Mustang GT with the 4.6. Growing up in south FL I drove up to Steeda and had them do some work. My car sounded great.

I remember the z28s and firebirds just spanking me before I had work done. 4.6 vs 5.7 as a kid and the 4.6 got spanked.

I think Ford has left an opening. They aren't exactly lighting it up down in Baja either. Dodge will come out and claim that their rig is the newest, most powerful, etc, and Ford won't have a counter-argument without a HOT V8 in the lineup. Every decade or two, Ford seems to abandon racing and high perf vehicles, and we may be seeing that again with all this little motor/hybrid/electric stuff... Then when sales go in the tank, they come out with some performance rigs worth buying.

You do have to think the V8 will be a thing of the past soon. It will be electric and self driving before V8s make any kind of return.

Not sure if it counts, but about 50 years ago I built the Visible V8 model by Revell. As I knew absolutely nothing about cars or engines, I glued the crankshaft. Need I say more? Lol

I built that and the rotary engine models. About... early 80’s.

Are you assuming that a bunch of Italians are in the R&D dept of Ram? Dodge/Ram has been producing the Power Wagon for decades and Chrysler bought Jeep back in the 80's. I think they're all squared away in their R&D dept.....thanks for coming out....:lol2:

Nope....I'm assuming Dodge...with all it's problems over the years went bankrupt, screwed it's investors in the big Obama bail out of GM and Chrysler. Without Obama bypassing many different laws regarding bankruptcy Dodge/Chrysler would have been liquidated but instead tax payers forked over money to GM, paid off unions at Chrysler/Dodge, screwed bond holders of the company and forced a sale to Fiat. I'm assuming that a first model year vehicle...especially from Fiat(Dodge) will have a lot of gremlins to work out before it's competitive with Raptor. Lots of HP/Torque is fine but putting it in a package that's usable and reliable to the masses is something else entirely.

So you guys with the M3s, 911's, and S6's; in your opinion, is the Raptor the closest thing you can get to an involved driving experience without actually owning two vehicles?

Uh no. not even close.

The Raptor is still just an F150, with off roady bits. It is not a "drivers" car at all.

Now, that takes nothing away from the raptor or any other F150. plenty of people, me included consider a big truck to be the ultimate highway cruiser, but never a "drivers" car. Would never go canyon carving in a truck.

the raptor is still fun, but it in no way replaced the experience of driving my Audi or Mustang. But in the same regard, i love the fact that i no longer have to worry about speed bumps, or pot holes messing up my wheel or chin slitter.

Because of the sound... Some people have said that the reason why they won’t buy a $70k truck is because it’s missing 2 cylinders and so the exhaust doesn’t sound like a V8. I sincerely hope the Gen 3 Raptor will be a turbo 4 banger just to watch people’s reaction.

LOL....I am 50 years old......."sound" don't mean ****. I am not showing off at a stop light like some stupid teenager. I care about what I think, I leanred a long time ago to not give 2 sh!ts about what someone else thinks of me and my stuff.
