So 2 days ago I head out with a few guys to hit up Anza-Borrego. As we get there I start to air down a bit and all these little alarms start to go off... truck goes into a total limp mode. I unplug the battery, clears the codes and we are off. It did it 5 different times, all at random, driving it, idling, etc.

The last time I was driving on the highway and it did it the 5th time. I take a video, know dealerships won't believe crap.

I go to lunch, it resets itself.

Dealership has had my truck for 2 days and can't find any problems, no codes etc... they told me to come pick it up and I'm SOL and their hands are tied. So I get to wait until I'm stranded in the desert...

you running a tune? mess with anything electrical at all? have you visually checked places where the harness is exposed to see if something damaged it?

what codes is it throwing ? might want to buy a cheapo obdII reader to catch the codes when this happens, that might give you an idea of where to start troubleshooting.

No tunes. I will check all the connectors. It's so random.

Another forum member had a collection of weird codes and limp mode. Turned out to be a rodent chewed harness. The codes would help us help you troubleshoot though. I'd also check the air box lid and the intake tubing .if a/f and throttle position don't line up, things get screwy.

check to make sure that you didnt kill an abs ( wheel speed) sensor. I had similar weird codes when my brake rotor ate one. ( i dont run dust shields anymore).

I was just about to type that in; didn’t we have someone just lose one of these to a rock or something? Not a giant boulder type rock, the kind that gets kicked up by your tires.

I carry 2 spares on runs now. its a super quick 5 min swap of a sensor and carrying them has already saved a trail day for one of my buds. IIRC the replacements are $17.

It is also completely workable to splice the cut one in a pinch. they are literally 2 wires ( + and -) and when I first ate through one, my makeshift splice held for 2 subsequent runs ( while I waited for the spares to show up as no one semi-locally had them or could get them sooner than tasca.)
