Anyone slap a set of Duratracs on their Gen 2 yet? How has the road noise been if so?

I had them on my Gen1 and liked them, and lasted longer than stock.. I will get them for my Gen2!!

Mine don't seem loud at all. lost .4 mpg though (35x12.5-17)
Mine aren't loud either. They're just not as quiet as the stock KO2s were.
I don't mind tire noise. I usually run mud tires on my trucks.

Load range is why it is heavier:

C >> 6 ply
D >> 8 ply
E >> 10 ply

I never get load range E as I feel is over kill for a daily driver. But if you off-road or tow and you want a stout tire then you want E.

I think the duratrac in 315/70/17 is the perfect tire. Light, great all around traction (incredible in snow), Load range D (stronger than a 6-ply but not as heavy as a 10ply) and with the aggressive tread pattern, it looks great.

You do realize that there are not actually 6,8 or 10 plys in the tires anymore right? That was for bias ply tires not radials. In the KO2, there is actually one more sidewall layer (ply) in the E range than the C range but in the duratrac there are the exact same number of layers in the construction of the tire. The layers and the rubber may be a little thicker accounting for the weight but the tires do not actually have more plys in most cases. The biggest reason people experience differences in ride is over inflation, not tire construction.

My ko2s are clapped out at 16k miles even with 5 rotations in that time and they are LOUD now which is crazy to me because they arent even down to the wear indicators yet. Hoping the Duratracs dont get any louder than these are. Ive had a few sets of Duratracs on Jeeps but never put more than about 30k miles on them before I changed them out to larger sizes due to lifts and buying/selling new models.

You are correct sir >> https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=55

I wonder what accounts for the heavier weight in load E tire? I assume they are using a thicker steel belt?

I currently run Duratracs on my Gen1 and have 36K on them and I can confirm, they def get louder with miles. When new, they were slightly louder than K01s. Regardless of noise, the Duratrac is the best all around tire and crazy good in the snow. I just ordered a 2019 and already have aftermarket wheels. I will be ordering Duratracs when my truck arrives.

I would love to get them but the sidewalls could use some work. Idk but it doesn’t really look mean or tough imho. Kind of looks fake/cheesy tough it’s hard to explain.

Based on looking at the tread alone, i'm gonna go with the guys that say Duratracks are louder than KO2's. They certainly look like they make more noise to me.
