Did you know the Raptor has a data recording device????
DATA RECORDING
Service Data Recording
Service data recorders in your vehicle are capable of collecting and
storing diagnostic information about your vehicle. This potentially
includes information about the performance or status of various systems
and modules in the vehicle, such as engine, throttle, steering or brake
systems. In order to properly diagnose and service your vehicle, Ford
Motor Company, Ford of Canada, and service and repair facilities may
access or share among them vehicle diagnostic information received
through a direct connection to your vehicle when diagnosing or servicing
your vehicle. For U.S. only (if equipped), if you choose to use the SYNC
Vehicle Health Report, you consent that certain diagnostic information
may also be accessed electronically by Ford Motor Company and Ford
authorized service facilities, and that the diagnostic information may be
used for any purpose. See your SYNC supplement for more information.
Event Data Recording
This vehicle is equipped with an event data recorder (EDR). The
main purpose of an EDR is to record, in certain crash or near
crash-like situations, such as an airbag deployment or hitting a
road obstacle; this data will assist in understanding how a
vehicle’s systems performed. The EDR is designed to record data
related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period
of time, typically 30 seconds or less. The EDR in this vehicle is
designed to record such data as:
• How various systems in your vehicle were operating;
• Whether or not the driver and passenger safety belts were
buckled/fastened;
• How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator
and/or the brake pedal; and
• How fast the vehicle was travelling; and
• Where the driver was positioning the steering wheel.
This data can help provide a better understanding of the
circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur.
Note: EDR data is recorded by your vehicle only if a non-trivial
crash situation occurs; no data is recorded by the EDR under
normal driving conditions and no personal data or information
(e.g., name, gender, age, and crash location) is recorded

No, meaning that if you get into a accident it records everything that was going on before the accident. It can be accessed by the cops...

Hock, That's the way I read it as well. Though I believe they will eventually record all the events done while you are operating your vehicle to includes tunes, driving habits, etc..... Pretty bad when you buy a vehicle and it spys on you. I guess that's what happens when we live in a law suing nation/world.

oh ya most new cars keep that data, what really sucks is with GM, onstar records all that shit and wirelessly transfers it to them, and they can (and have) sold that information to government agencies and insurance companys and others.

I knew I was justified in hating onstar.

As far as the topic at hand is concerned, if it is used solely to reconstruct and accident scene, I don't see how it's any worse than having your own camera system installed in the truck. If the data is recorded in any other even than an accident and is shared, I've got issues with that.

Pretty sure a large percentage of cars in the past decade have blackboxes in them already. Probably 75%+
91% since 1996, actually. Federal law mandates 100% by 2015 (as per MAP-21, signed into law July 6 of this year).

As part of that law, by the way, access to that black box info is now wholly owned by you, the driver. It would take a court order to force you to turn it over. Precedent had is this has always been true, but now its official law.

So yeah, it sucks. But its not as bad as it might seem at first.
