Only different menu item I've seen so far is the ability to turn Display Off. The font is different and the Blue GT theme seems more polished and scaled for the 8" screen where before it was designed to fit the smaller Mustang screen. I'm sure I'll notice some different things in the days to come though.

So I just entered the following in APIM in Sync 3 v3.0 and it DOES allow viewing of text messages and entering NAV destination while in motion AND Sirius Travel Link is still present and working

APIM 7D0-02-01 5753 xxxx xxxx

This did not work on Sync 3 v2.0 but I never tested it on Sync 3 v2.2 so if anyone is on v2.2 and wants to test it may work on that version also. If you test it please also post whether Sirius Travel Link still works also.

Sync 3 v3.0 download links
For Sync 3 Units WITH Navigation (2 links for the same thing listed, choose 1):

Good to know Liv.

Sorry for asking a very noobie question, but is there a writeup on how to flash Sync 3 onto the car?

If you have NAV it's easy...just download the file and extract the contents to a blank formatted FAT-32 USB drive and insert it into your truck with key on, engine off with a battery charger hooked up or turn truck on and allow it to idle. After it's inserted you'll see on the touchscreen about 5-10 mins later "updating system software" and it'll then take 25-45 mins to finish.

If you don't have NAV the process is more complicated because it entails breaking up the install into two parts because the APIM doesn't have enough memory to do it in one shot. ** you would think the NAV version would be bigger but it's not, the non-NAV one is bigger **

I recommend hooking up a battery charger beforehand so your truck doesn't shut down to preserve battery charge. After it's inserted you'll see on the touchscreen about 5-10 mins later "updating system software" and it'll then take 25-45 mins to finish.

Thank you, good to know and easy to do since I have 802-A / Nav.

Other than being able to set destinations while in motion, are there any other notable features making this worthwhile? What about android mirror link or something similar?

EDIT: I did some googling and found the following to answer my own question:
https://www.extremetech.com/extreme...ster-if-not-standing-out-from-the-competition

https://www.digitaltrends.com/infotainment-system-reviews/ford-sync-3-review/

I think I have quick boot enabled via forscan, I assume that will have to be redone after reflash. Other forscan changes to other modules should be still OK correct?

Thanks for the info. If I don't have a battery charger handy can't I just have my engine running to avoid the battery being drained and shutting off?

This won't affect any changes you've done with FORScan in other modules. This APIM value change I posted also allows viewing & replying to text messages while in motion & Sirius Travel Link still works (in Sync 2 it wouldn't work with this change)

Yes, you can have engine on and idling during the process

Is v3.0 eventually going to be released and available for wireless update, or does that only work for 2.x updates?
