I just got off the phone with the Island Resort and casino. They will not bill your CC to reserve the rooms, just at check in.

That means you can book all the rooms right now with no money out of pocket until check in.

So with that said everyone can reserve their rooms right now before the snowmobilers take over the hotels. I would reserve ASAP if you know you are going. Especially at the travelodge in Houghton as they have the least amount of rooms of the 3 places.
