Make this tailgate applique' shortage make sense

I understand seats, chips, paint, engines, etc., but how in the world can a piece of stamped? or molded? plastic be a shortage anyway?

Like how can Ford's supplier not possibly make as many of these rectangular pieces of plastic as Raptors require?

Makes zero sense to me. Can anyone out there make sense of this?

It isn't just a piece of plastic. The skin of the tailgate is way different. They might have stacks of appliques, but not the aluminum skin they need.

Yeah you never know. Ideally I wouldn’t want a moonroof either but that seems to be rare.
