I'm looking in to putting some 13+ retrofits on my 12.. The problem I have is my truck has day time running lights which won't work with the hid thus causing lighting issues. I want daytime runners but I'm being told I can't flash the truck to run it as a 13+ running light.

What has everyone done with their 12 to 13 hid projector conversions that have daytime running lights? Can any of the Canadians chime in?

I'm willing to do the up fitter mod from car stereo company but will or can a dealer turn the oem running lights off?

I put the 13 hid lights on my truck with the raptor retrofit harness. The lights stay on once you put it in gear and act as the daytime running lights. I don't think you will get a dealer to turn the lights of because of liability issues.

The DRL's will still function 100% with the conversion harness/2013 lights installed. If you would like the DRL disabled the settings have to be changed in the BCM. Shoot me an email with your shipping info and I can get you a total price shipped to Canada - [email protected]

With the harness on my 12' it was completely plug and play, in gear the DRLs work with the projector on. I just wish the amber lights were the DRL vs the actual projector but its not a big deal.

Noah can you elaborate on the response to trigger a relay? And can your really dumb it down for me... I'm dagerously delayed when it comes to electrical... or do you mean to trigger the relay on the hid in order to have them run as it will draw the power from the battery? Im hoping its a soloution to have the drl's turn off.

i am not familiar with the drl setup since it is not on any US trucks, but if you have less power going to the headlights, the you can use that wire to a relay which is connected to the battery. if you look at a standard automotive relay (spdt) 85 would be connected to the drl wire. 86 would go to ground. 87 would go to the battery, and 30 would go to the new lights. but before you go through the trouble, check with raptor retrofit, as he has stated he has something that will work.
