Looking to mount a pair of spots on my A Pillars. Who makes the best mount?
I like the simplicity of the Rigid mount.

Alternative Offroad and SDHQ make the best mounts.

SDHQ Sits up by the cowel/closer to your window. These are great for smaller lights like Baja Designs Squadrons or S2. You can mount larger lights like the XL Series as well here but your antenna might get in the way. You have to remove the cowel and pop the windshield wipers off to get these installed.

The Alternative Offroad sit further down the hood and attach TO the actual hood itself. You just loosen 2 bolts under the hood (which support the hood) and slide it in. Do this ONE bolt at a time, not both (otherwise the hood will slide and be out of alignment). These will accomate larger lights as they sit futher up so there is no interference with the antenna.

We also have lights available and harnesses, depending on what lights you go with.

Depending on what lights you select, we'll have different upfitter connection kits available.

If you wanted to go with the XL80, some of the most popular pillar lights we sell, we have a pre-configured kit here: http://www.4x4truckleds.com/baja-designs-ford-raptor-2017-xl80-a-pillar-lighting-kit/

Baja Designs also makes a pillar mount as well, which is available in their Squadron Spot kit

The Baja Designs mounts are similar to the SDHQ in where they mount up.

Yes all the mounts allow the hood to open. The Alternative Offroad ones move WITH the hood, since they are attached to the hood support bolts.

Will the Rigid D2's fit by my antenna with the SDHQ mounts. I have a stubby antenna.

Yes, not a problem. You can easily clear a set of Baja Designs XL80's with a stubby on the SDHQ mounts so D2's aren't an issue.

Let us know if we can help!

I had the SDHQ mounts and they were awesome. I really liked that they were closer to the windshield than on the back of the hood. Well made and super solid. I believe they’re back ordered right now so just a heads up.

I ended up with the Alternative Off-road mounts with XL80 clear drivers from @4x4TruckLEDs.com. Can’t say enough good things about Adam at 4x4 LEDs, put up with some back and fourth from me and a few stupid questions now that I look back at it. Plan on plenty more lights down the road.
For the mounts I am happy with the Alternatives but one day I would like to try the SDHQ to suck the lights closer up into the shield. They are backordered EVERYWHERE! Two complaints I had with the mounts was; they were really close to the back edge of my hood and I had to loosen and tighten one bolt at a time a few times to get the mounts fully seated.
My remedy for how close the mount was to just split some small diameter black fuel line I bought at the hardware store.
Hindsight I would of given the slots a very small radius at the ends to help slide onto my hood easier.
