I just don't think you are going to be able to stop someone from getting into your truck if they want to get in. If they want it they will get it. Best thing I can come up with is installing a kill switch somewhere. They can have the trinkets inside but at least Im still driving my truck home. And for something like $7 a month you can change your insurance deductible from $500 to $100.

One time my wife destroyed her key fob to her Excursion at Lake Powell. I told her I would get in, and she had total confidence in her alarm. I am not a professional, but I was in her Excursion, and had it started before she could walk the 50 yards from the store to the truck. After that, she no longer had absolute confidence in her alarm.
I had an alarm in my truck, and curiously, the alarm went down and within a week, my stereo was stolen, So backing up what Noah said, the best deterrent is the little flashing light on the dash.

Had the same thing happen to me in Torrance. One thing you need to look at is the horn connection. With the hood closed you can take a pair on long nose pliers and disconnect the horn. No horn, no alarm. I made a cover out of sheet metal to cover the area so you can not access the connection without removing my cover. Check to see if your horn is disconnected?

Three cars were stolen from the building where I live within the last month. If I didn't have a Viper alarm, they probably would have taken my truck too. I understand a professional can steal anything no matter what kind of alarm system you have. However, your average car thief is too dumb and/or not willing to spend the time to mess with an aftermarket alarm system.

I decided to upgrade my system just to be on the safe side. I added Smart Start with GPS, an extra siren, glass break sensor, and proximity sensor. So now if you just walk up to the truck and look in the window, the alarm starts beeping. If you don't move away, the full blown siren starts wailing.

I also installed Jimmi Jammers on all the doors, hood, and tailgate.

I recently discovered that the Jimmi Jammers DO NOT protect against the slim jim. So I just installed a protective cover around the door lock rods inside the door.

I plan on installing a kill switch for the ignition as well.

I want an aftermarket alarm system but I don't want someone chopping up my harness with those damn 3M scotch-lok connectors. I assume the Ford upgraded security package is a total joke.

I have found that the factory alarm does not arm if you lock the doors with the lock button on the door. It only arms when you use the keyfob to lock the door.
