Bed Cover recommendation for Arizona sun and heat

Hi, my Raptor finally has a build date, 5/8 :winner_second_h4h:

I will be doing several mods and additions immediately. One is a bed cover. I want the cover primarily to secure items under a locked cover. I also am certain I want a cover that folds or rolls out of the way, not a one piece flip up cover. I don't want one that retracts into the bed as I will haul things at times and I may even need to remove the cover part when hauling so weight and the process to remove an replace is a factor.

So far I'm most interested in the RollX and the Backflip F1. Price is not the pimary driver of my decision, functionality to my needs is.

RollX
Pros:
- does not block the rear window when retracted
- Seems pretty secure with the interlocking aluminum slats
Cons:
- worried about the vinyl top in the AZ sun and heat (vinyl would be like 160F in the sun)
- weight to completely remove? Not sure if this is an issue

Backflip F1
pros:
- no vinyl to get ruined in our sun
- looks like it's lighter?
cons:
- looks more combersome or roll up
- more or less secure, (I don't know)

I have the backflip and really like it. Easy to use. The only down side I have found is, one panel can't be left open on the freeway. It will catch air and slam shut. 2 panels can be left open. With the extra weight on the 2nd panel, it stays open.

I bought the Roll-x about 3 months ago. I also installed an automatic tailgate lock and now the bed is nice and secure.
I did the install by myself and removing the cover if needed is very easy and possible by just 1 person. The rails are more of a pain to remove, but hopefully you would just keep those attached.
I can't really comment on the longevity or the heat issues with the vinyl yet as it is just starting to warm up.

Overall I am really loving this cover and everyone that sees it likes it a lot. Morrie was a great help and I would recommend going through him for your cover. Plus his prices cant be beat.

What made you pick the RollX? That's the way I'm leaning.

Correction, I would be looking at the Backflip F1 or the RollX

Vinyl and black powdercoating (on aluminum) will fade unless you keep some sort of conditioner on the vinyl or powdercoat which contains a UV protectorant in it.

FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) is more UV stable although it's not a bad idea to keep a protectorant on it also.

The Undercover Flex, Bakflip F1, and Bakflip Fibermax have FRP panels although the framing is black powdercoated aluminum.

Hey AZEngineer, congrats on finally getting a date for your truck!

If you haven't heard of our product yet, check out our sub-forum or our website www.foldacover.com for more information on our G4 Elite and LS Series Fold-a-Cover.

Here are a few reviews written by forum members to look over is you are interested. Two of them being from Raptor owners and one of those being from BigJ from FRF.

Based on your original posts it looks like one of your concerns is the ability to fully remove the cover if needed. Here is a video showing how easy it is to fully remove our Fold-a-Cover.

Oh, and don't forget, use FRFspring25 to get $25 off of our Factory Store if you decided on a Fold-a-Cover product!

Let me know if you have any other questions I can answer!

I'm thinking of buying a Bed cover for the 2013 Raptor.

Any place where can I find them and are they easy to install?

I'm looking for something online or place in Washington DC area.

Thanks for the Help.
