I'm not even sure if it is worth getting an aftermarket intake. It is something I will have to think about and consider, but its not really high on my priority list.

a 20hp gain from an intake is stretching it. i seriously doubt you can get that much increase from that. usually 5-10 is normal, but i would definitley want to see proof

Would it be too hard to place a large fan in front of the truck on a dyno?

And how close does that approximate a 1/4 mile track. With the hood up, at what speed do you figure your hood would be damaged at the track? You can be sure your wimping dyno fan isn't close to track conditions
I'm thinking you would need a pretty big, very large diameter variable speed fan to duplicate track conditions. How about a dyno wind tunnel?

Hood up, typical dyno fan: best possible power readings.
Hood down, typical dyno fan: track power is no worse than those power readings.

Yeah. I call BS on a 20 HP gain from an intake alone at the crank much less the wheels.

Still would be interesting to see additional, if Any, HP increase with basic mods

Will try pulls with hood up vs. down and using a fan. We would have just done hood up and a fan.

Maybe just drive around town with no hood at all. Fast & Furious style!

IMO Volant is the best. The Powercore filter is great and even though my entire engine was covered in muddy water after the TRR, I opened the box on my Volant and it was still perfectly clean.

You guys are right you will seen 0 to minimal gains....there is no way to duplicate real world conditions on a dyno you can set your load but thats all a fan is not the same as driving down the road imvho...

Sounds Good Maxx:mexsmoke:
TRR (Texas Raptor Run 12) was a real life test for us!!!
Anyone else??

Edit: Personally, have it narrowed down to AFE Stage II or the Volant...if I choose to apply an aftermarket Intake system. Still kicking the idea around in my head. Main reasons for not is one, Warranty issues and two issues with aftermarket Intake systems keeping the elements out. Many after market Intake users have had both negative and positive feedback.

However...TRR is a darn good proving ground for us SVT Raptor Owners.
