NEGOTATE A PRICE LOWER THAN THE MSRP

WELL THE WIFE SAYS TO BUY A RAPTOR. SHE SPEAKS I LISTEN. SO I AM ON THE TRAIL LOOKING FOR A RAPTOR. I HAVE NOT STARTED CONTACTING MANY DEALERS YET, BUT THE DEALERS I HAVE CONTACTED HAVE THE ATTITUDE OF YOU PAY THE MSRP OR WE DON'T WANT YOUR BUINESS. THAT MAY BE CAUSED BY LAW OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND. I DON'T KNOW HOW THE DEMAND IS BUT I KNOW THE SUPPLY IS NOT THAT MANY. I HAVE NO PROLEM WITH ANYONE MAKING A PROFIT, BUT I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH EXCESSIVE PROFIT AT MY EXPENSE. I KNOW THERE IS MOST LIKELY A 10% TO 15% MARKUP OVER COST ON THE MSRP. AND I KNOW THE DEALER WILL GET A 2% TO 3% HOLDBACK WHEN THE VEHICHLE IS SOLD. SO ON THE MSRP THEIR PROFIT MARGIN IS FAT. DO I NEED TO TRY TO NEGOTATE A LOWER PRICE OR JUST WRITE A CHECK FOR THE MSRP. AS OF RIGHT NOW THERE 670 F150 RAPTORS SETTING ON DEALER LOTS ACROSS THE US AS OF TODAY, AND I AM WILLING TO PAY FOR A $500 PLANE TICKET TO SAVE $3,000. DO I SHOP OR JUST WRITE A CHECK. THANKS

There's almost always a dealer that will be willing to negotiate a better price. You will definitely need to do a lot of work to find one though. There's always a pretty strong demand. Even pre-Chinese virus most dealers were getting well over MSRP.

Someone just posted a rator for sale under mrsp...whether its legit or not is another story. if your not picky then i think its possible to get under msrp.

When you’re trying to buy a limited run vehicle, or one in high demand, or both, negotiating is more challenging and some of the usual rules won’t apply. Your best bet is outside of urban areas, and ideally with a stealership you have either bought from before or have a relationship with someone at. I’ve not had a lot of practical Raptor negotiating in 7? years now, and I bought right after Jen Too went live so MSRP was the gold standard. I got MSRP but it took me calling over 70 different stealerships, emailing many, many more and monitoring the Ford site for inventory. I found my MSRP deal about 70 minutes from home, with several available closer to me in more urban areas at a significant markup. My stealership was a family owned affair not famous for skewering customers. I didn’t get a great deal, hell, I paid MSRP which outright sucked, but, I am 100% confident I got the best deal I was going to get without knowing someone at a stealership. And that only goes so far - there is no A-plan or other alphabet plans to purchase the truck at a discount on Raptors or other Ford Performance vehicles.

When I bought, we had a guy put up a Raptor finder site, and we had a running thread of non-gouging dealers. Every single one I called that an FRF claimed would sell at MSRP were charging ADM. All of them. Even with a known contact.

So, if you want the truck, your practical range for this point in time is about MSRP through about $2000 - $1500 under, best case. If you’re ok with a 35” truck, go for that.
Your best negotiating tactic is to find trucks sitting on the lot for a while, with other Raptors there too. This market doesn’t favor ADM over MSRP due to tightening economy, inflation, much higher interest rates. Don’t be in a hurry and be willing to walk away if the numbers aren’t right, but, don’t let the perfect get in the way of excellent.

If there is a trade involved and you do get under MSRP, they’ll likely make up for it on that end. I just wish Raptors qualified for X plan pricing.

Oops forgot caps lock was on. i have untreatable degrative eye disease and i can see my errors with caps. Sorry. I live in south Texas and for the most part no one has any discretionary money so the dealers have to be hungry. i don't think i will have any trouble finding what i want as MSRP. The money is not a problem, but you know it is nice to play the game and win. I am not backed to the wall, but the wife says pay the MSRP. I hit one dealer that had added $5,000 dealer profit and he took that off when i asked but is sticking with MSRP. There are 8 that she is interested in so i will play with the dealers to see what happens. It may be strange but i plan to trailer the raptor behind a new motor home so we can park the motor home and use the raptor to get around. She is the one with the checkbook, but like I said it's fun to play the game and win. You did confirm that my thinking is right on target, so thanks. By the way i am 77 also.
