5k oil change, sediment/goop in JLT catch can

Like the title says. Did a 5k change, dash said oil life was 46%, have 5500 total miles. Wix oil filter plus mobile 1 5w-30. I had about 1 tablespoon in the can. After draining it though, there was some sludge I cleaned out. Anyone else see this?

I don’t have a CC but I’ve seen that ****** in the oil fill tube on my car. Common in winter driven cars.

Lol, not sure what **** cheese looks like, but this might be a contender. I posted up on the CC thread at about 4500 miles and this wasn't there. Detroit weather was a bit warmer then. So it's temp related then?

short trip driving/not having all the fluids at operating temp long enough to boil out all the moisture results in that milky look, I know on older Fords you would also see it on the underside of the oil cap.

Its basically condensation mixing with the oil. As mentioned above, short trips that dont let the fluids get to full operating temps or at operating temps long enough to evaporate the water out of the oil. In colder months this is very common. It is nothing to worry about.

I only drive 10mi to work each day, so I regularly have a couple ounces of oily milk from the catch can with each oil change. I’ve had it on since new, and it’s been consistent for the past 3 years.

Very normal amount of gunk. This is not just a turbo charged thing! I live In SE Mi and my Gen1 had that kind of build up in the catch can and the oil cap all winter.

Catch cans not really necessary on street vehicles, stock or modded and may actually be more of a pain the a benefit. Not doing one on the Gen 2.

Personal preference is what you go with for these. I have not seen any real proof that they help on the street but on the track or a high load/ high G situation they have a bennifit.
