I've been following the threads here on the Sync 3 update. I've got a 2017 and have never updated from the version of Sync 3 that it came with as its been working fine. I got a notice on Fordpass a while back for a new version and downloaded it to my computer but never did anything with it.

I'm a little paranoid about attempting the update as I don't want to mess up my working Sync 3.

Is it possible to create a "backup" of your current Sync 3 so that if you install the latest version, you can simply go back to your previous version?

Not sure about creating a backup, but I recently updated my Sync 3 with no issues. Just have the file(s) on a portable usb thumb drive and follow the directions, works like a charm. Mine took about 30 minutes to complete.

So far yes! Ford has not released it yet for ‘19s and older. I was hoping they eventually would. I wonder if it’s just to big of an update for them to release to owners. If you can otherwise update to v3.3 that is the latest other than 3.4 that the ‘20s come with.

I’m a relatively new owner and have never had to mess with this before. How do you tell which version you have? Also, I just noticed a few days ago that waze now reports an accurate mph. Is it possible that the update happened automatically?

Possibly, but the Wifi download has never worked for me. I finally did the USB update solely to correct my Waze speed.

Go into settings, Update and you will find the option for software version.
