Hey I wanted to share my experience with a $150 “OEM” AC compressor I just picked up and installed. The whole kit is under $200 and appears to be quality. I have some side by side pics of the compressor unit...very close match to my AC/Delco Compressor. On my 2014 that OEM compressor got 170k miles on it before it started whining.
I did a kit with the 16002061-102 compressor from buy autoparts.com. I am not affiliated with them in any way. Actually got the wrong kit for the F250 but the Orings and compressor match the f150 kit so I went for it with the parts that matched my system.
Quality was good. Since there were no metal shavings in the high pressure port I opted to just evacuate the system and install it. Ford says 6oz of oil is needed but I think they assume that is with a new dryer and condenser. I put 6oz in anyway, recharged and the whine is gone with 51F temps at the vent when its 95F outside. Pretty happy with the results. I could throw in a new dryer and condenser pretty easily if I wanted it cooler. I’m a little concerned about too much oil in the system but not loosing sleep at night over it. Here are the pics
