I see online that they are being listed for under MSRP. What kind of discount are people getting? Is the price online the bottom line or are people getting slightly better?

My first post here: I bought a 2019 Raptor today, Performance Blue. Sticker was around $72K. Dealer took $3K off the MSRP, although I did have a trade in, which can make it hard to compare prices sometimes. For example, the dealer might have taken more off the MSRP but then not given me as much on my trade in. Either way, I'm happy with the overall deal.

The dealership where I purchased discounted my Raptor $3000 off the MSRP ,but I had a trade in so it is hard to figure since I got a really good trade in allowance and saved also on no sales tax which would have been 6%. in Florida.I was happy with the numbers.

I paid $1k over invoice for a truck I had the dealer order. No trade, cash deal. It was a little more than $4k below MSRP.

It was several thousand less than any of the other local dealers would order the truck for, so I’m happy.

Bottom line is they are making money on you, you don't mind because you want the truck. They gave me 34 something on a 16 150 Lariat, I got 3 off the sticker, plus some other rebate for 500, and no sales tax (7% here) and I wanted it. Im not sure that anybody makes money buying a truck. Or even breaks out for that matter. Truck payments are just like death and taxes.

I traded a 2015 mustang with 8900 miles that was cleaner than the day I brought it home. They gave me “$1000 off msrp”. Basically, it worked out to me receiving blue blook private sale value for the car. I prob gave up a couple grand but it was spur of the moment and I wanted to be home before dark. The truck had the exact options I was looking to order next year and the last 3 VIN digits were “614” which was my race number when I ran enduros and harescrambles on a dirt bike... it’s also the local area code where I currently live. I was dead set on going home with it regardless of price.

It depends on your location... and if your willing to travel for a better deal. Some areas are still selling with dealer markups, some won’t budge off MSRP, and some will go all the way down to invoice.

I don’t think you will find dealers in the same area selling at prices far off from each other (could be natural market dynamics, or could the “collusion”).

I traveled for a 2019 February purchase (duration of model year cycle matters too), and got $4250 off MSRP of $76,500.
